Identifying Key Roles In Politics Using Semantic Technologies
51a Conferencia Latinoamericana de Informática (CLEI), 2025.
Head of Research Projects at the Library of the National Congress of Chile and PhD in Computer Science (Cum Laude). My work connects Semantic Web, Text Mining and Social Network Analysis to build better tools for political and legislative analysis.
A career at the intersection of computer science, public information, semantic technologies and innovation in the legislative domain.
I am Head of Research Projects at the Library of the National Congress of Chile (BCN), PhD in Computer Science (Cum Laude) from the University of Oviedo, and a member of the WESO Research Group.
My research focuses on political and legislative analysis through what I call Semantic Technologies: the convergence of Semantic Web, Text Mining and Social Network Analysis.
I was born in Puente Alto, Santiago de Chile. In 2006 I obtained my Computer Science and Engineering degree from the Universidad de La Frontera. From 2009 to 2011 I completed the Master in Web Engineering at the University of Oviedo with a Fundación Carolina scholarship.
My Master's and PhD theses were supervised by Jose Emilio Labra Gayo. Among other projects, I contributed to the development of the first Chilean Linked Open Data portal, datos.bcn.cl. Since then, I have worked at BCN on Semantic Web, artificial intelligence and innovation projects.
I currently live in Viña del Mar, Chile, with my wife and daughters.
Selected research on Semantic Web technologies, legislative informatics, artificial intelligence, Linked Open Data and political analysis.
